2024-25 Ohio Youth Tier II State Tournament (18U, 16U, 14U) (Published May 15, 2024)

1. The Ohio 2024-25 Tier II tournament for 18U and 16U will be held October 18-19-20, 2024 for ALL teams (pre-post AND full-year). Location TBD.

2. The Ohio 2024-25 Tier II tournament for 14U will be held March 7-8-9, 2025, for ALL teams (pre-post AND full-year). Location TBD.

3. The Deadline to apply to play in the tournament for ALL (pre-post and full year) teams is September 1, 2024. [See attached application form]. The application to play in the tournament must be postmarked by September 1 and accompanied by a check for $1,500 made out to Mid Am Hockey and your USAH roster. Please do not email the applications, they will not be accepted. Any application received without a check and roster will not be considered filed until a check and roster are physically received.

4. The USA Hockey Tier II National Tournaments occur April 2-6, 2025, in the following locales: a. 18U – Utica, NY b. 16U – Wayne, NJ c. 14U – Kalamazoo, MI

5. The 18U, 16U and 14U Ohio tournament hosts are yet to be determined. If you are interested in hosting, please contact Lori Billings at administrator@midamhockey.com.

6. We will accept 2, 3, 4 or 6 teams in the tournament. If we have more than 6 teams apply before the deadline, then we will look to the My Hockey Rankings published the last Wednesday in September and take the top 6 ranked teams. If there are 7 timely applicants, we reserve the right to schedule a single elimination play-in game between the 7th and 6th place teams.

7. We will not accept 5 teams in the tournament. If we have 5 teams that have timely filed an application, we will attempt to recruit a 6th team, but if we are unsuccessful, then we will either have a single elimination play-in game between the 5th place and 4th place teams or the excluded team will be refunded its money. This decision is exclusively at the discretion of the tournament committee. The excluded team will be the lowest ranked team in the My Hockey Rankings published on or before the last Wednesday in September, except that the host team is guaranteed a spot in the tournament.

8. If there are 2, 3 or 4 teams in the tournament, then the game schedule will be a round-robin with each team playing every other team in the tournament with the champion being determined by points (i.e. no championship game). We do not accept 5 teams.
If there are 6 teams in the tournament, then there will be a 3-game seeded preliminary round with the top 2 teams by points advancing to the championship game.
A seeded tournament is where the top ranked team plays the easiest schedule with each seeded team playing a progressively harder schedule. The district Tier I tournament uses this format.

9. There will be a mandatory coach meeting the Tuesday before the tournament starts (10-15-2024) at 7:00 PM via Zoom.
Failure of a team to have a representative at the meeting will cause the head coach to be suspended from his team’s first game.

10. The 18U & 16U games are 17-minute periods and the 14U games are 16 minutes. All games are officiated using the 4-official system.

11. The tournament will be governed by the USA Hockey National Tournament Guidebook.
